From pallet to one of one.
Every Upthread piece makes the same journey. Seven steps, one garment at a time.

01
Sourced.
It starts with a pallet. We buy used clothing in bulk from U.S. wholesale pallets: sweatshirts, hoodies and tees that have already lived one life.

02
Sent to the workshop.
The pallets ship to our partner sewing workshop, where garments are sorted by fabric, weight, color and condition.

03
Cut.
Shapes are drawn for the garment in front of them: a flower, a drip, a wave, a face in profile. Then they're cut, one piece at a time.

04
Sewn.
Panels are set in and appliqués are stitched down across seams, sleeves and hoods. The cut decides where the stitching goes, not the pattern.

05
One of one.
The result is a single garment that has never existed before and won't exist again. It gets a number, and that number is never reused.

06
Shipped and sold.
Finished pieces come back to us, get photographed and go live. When someone buys one, it's marked sold for good and shipped to its new owner.

07
One less.
One less garment headed for a landfill or the ocean. Not a statistic. One real garment, and then the next one.
